PIC Notice 2 - Wayne Gretzky Parkway North Extension Municipal Class EA
The Study
The City of Brantford has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) study for the Wayne Gretzky Parkway North Extension. A northern extension of the Wayne Gretzky Parkway was identified in the 2020 Transportation Master Plan (TMP) to provide optimization of the transportation network as an interregional travel route accessing the provincial highways to and from the north part of the City.
The Study will also assess the locations, configuration, and specifications of the intersections in the study area, including potential roundabouts. The investigation is to enhance intersection performance for traffic safety, active transportation, and examine road and area drainage, property acquisitions, and environmental impact and mitigation for project implementation.
Study Area Map
The Class EA is being undertaken in accordance with the planning and design process for a Schedule “C” project as outlined in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment document, which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.
Public Involvement
A key component of the EA will be consultation with interested stakeholders and community members, including the public, businesses, agencies and Indigenous peoples. The City invites everyone to participate in this planning process and learn more about this study by attending a Public Information Centre (PIC). This will be the second and final PIC for this study.
The objective of this PIC will be to present the planning process, provide an update on the technical studies, identify the proposed design concepts, and provide an opportunity for attendees to share comments and concerns pertaining to the study and the recommended design concept(s). Members of the project team will be available at the PIC to answer questions and discuss the study.
