Parks and Recreation Master Plan
We are pleased to share the City’s new Parks and Recreation Master Plan with our community including both the Executive Summary and full version of the Plan. Consistent with the City’s Community Strategic Plan, the Parks and Recreation Master Plan will guide the City in achieving our goal of enhancing the quality of life for Brantford citizens and visitors by offering a full range of well-supported sports and recreational facilities and programs.
Furthermore, the Plan will provide direction for future municipal investment in parks and recreation programs (aquatics, arenas, community centres) and services (partnerships, neighbourhood associations, volunteers, etc.) to 2026 and facilities (parks and amenities, community recreation centres, sports fields, cemeteries, active transportation infrastructure, etc.) to 2041, staffing needs as it relates to future infrastructure needs, programming trends, and the stewardship of the natural environment.
The Master Plan provides a clear and concise framework that will be used to provide recommendations to City Council and staff for sustainable future development, redevelopment, on-going maintenance and enhancement of Brantford's parks system, open spaces/natural environment, recreation facilities, sport tourism and recreation programs and services.
The Plan was developed in collaboration with a designated Project Task Force, made up of five community members, five members of City Council (one Councillor from each ward) and the Mayor, who were engaged at key milestones throughout this important project.
