The City of Brantford recognizes volunteers during National Volunteer Week April 14 to 20, 2024

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is honoured to celebrate all the dedicated volunteers who share their time, knowledge, empathy and experience that contribute to the well-being of the community. We invite residents to join Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis to raise the Brant Regional Association of Volunteer Administrators (BRAVA) Flag in Harmony Square (89 Dalhousie Street) on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., to officially recognize the week of April 14 to 20, 2024 as National Volunteer Week in Brantford.

“The City of Brantford is proud to celebrate every volunteer who contributes to the well-being of our community,” says Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis. “Their generosity helps enrich the city we live in by ensuring special events and programming is memorable and possible, and by making an immeasurable impact on the lives of our residents.” 

The theme for National Volunteer Week in 2024 is ‘Every Moment Matters’ to reflect the contribution made by volunteers who share their time, skills, empathy, and creativity that is vital to the inclusivity, strength, and well-being of our community.

For National Volunteer Week, the City of Brantford is hosting a Volunteer Recognition Celebration at the Sanderson Centre on Monday, April 15, 2024 in partnership with BRAVA. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the evening begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts. This annual event is held to celebrate and thank City of Brantford and BRAVA volunteers with an evening of live music, entertainment, awards and more.

The City of Brantford will also feature and highlight the contributions of our local volunteer committees, 2023 volunteer award winners and more on the City’s social media platforms during volunteer week from April 14 to 20, 2024. Following along with the hashtag #VolunteerBrantford. All welcome!

Volunteers are fundamental partners in community pride, and are needed now more than ever! By connecting and engaging with the community, and sharing in these moments with others, volunteers help enhance the culture in the community we live in. Brant Regional Association of Volunteer Administrators (BRAVA) was created in 1988 to promote and recognize the contributions that volunteers make in our community. BRAVA supports volunteerism in all areas of the community such as health care, education, arts and culture, faith, and social services. It supports volunteerism in the City of Brantford and the County of Brant through educational workshops, special recognition events, promotion of volunteer opportunities, and by providing a network in which volunteer administrators can share ideas and best practices.
