The City of Brantford issues Call for Artist/Workshop Facilitator for new Community Peace Mural

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is pleased to issue a Call for Artist/Workshop Facilitator for a collaborative Community Peace Mural that will be located on the wall to the right of the stairs ascending from the Market St. Parkade to Colborne St. E.

In the spirit of inclusivity, the theme for this mural project is “unity through our differences, celebrating the real human stories behind our increasingly diverse community.”

The selected artist/workshop facilitator will be responsible for developing and leading five public workshops in the spring and early summer for community members to participate in the design and creation of the final mural. The selected artist/workshop facilitator will be paid $7,000, in two installments.

Key Project Details

• The total available surface area of the mural is 54.55 m².
• The 5 community workshops will be hosted between April – June 2024.
• The completed mural will be unveiled in July 2024.

The idea for a community peace mural project is inspired by the Pieces for Peace project, a collaborative effort featuring local storytellers from diverse perspective and communities, supported by the City of Brantford, the Laurier Hub for Community Solutions, the Brantford Immigration Partnership, and other partners.

How to Apply

Please visit Brantford.ca/PeaceMural to submit for this Call for Artist/Workshop Facilitator. We encourage submissions from artists who have professional experience in both completing outdoor murals and facilitating community workshops. The submission deadline is March 20, 2024 at 4:30 p.m.
