The City and Eagle Place Community Association celebrate Grand Opening of Tutela Park splash pad
BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford and the Eagle Place Community Association, celebrate the official grand opening of the Tutela Park Splash Pad, located at 160 Erie Ave, on Saturday, July 16, 2022. This free event will include workshops and demonstrations by Mad Science and the Brantford Chess Club, children’s entertainment and activities, free henna tattoos and pizza, while quantities last, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:00 p.m. and cake will be served.
"I am so proud of the dedication and commitment demonstrated by our community to make this splash pad a reality for Eagle Place. We couldn’t have done it without our team of volunteers who successfully raised $50,000 towards the project! The splash pad in Tutela Park is a fantastic example of our community spirit in action,” says Mandy Samwell, President of the Eagle Place Community Association. “For as long as I can remember, families in Eagle Place have dreamed about having a splash pad in the heart of Eagle Place. As the weather gets warmer, families will be excited about creating memories all summer long.”
The splash pad opened to the public in the summer of 2020 however the opening celebration was delayed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. New features include a variety of ground bubblers and multiple ground sprays, a water spray “ring” tunnel, a moving interactive sprayer, overhead leaf sprayers and an overhead bucket. The design is inspired by the winding grand river that flows through the Eagle Place neighbourhood. Boulders are also incorporated into the area along the “river” edge for seating and imaginative play. Grass berms, additional trees, benches and new pathways combine to create an inviting space within the park for all residents to enjoy.
Residents are invited to bring their bathing suits, towels and sunscreen to enjoy a day at the new splash pad and fun free activities. The official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 12:00 p.m. with Mayor Kevin Davis and Ward 5 Councillors Joshua Wall and Brian Van Tilborg.
The development and installation of the new Tutela Park Splash Pad would not have been possible without the Eagle Place Community Association and their commitment to raising $50,000 towards the project through a variety of fundraising initiatives.
