Take the Brantford Brownfields Discovery Tour
BRANTFORD, ON – The Brownfields Community Advisory Committee is pleased to launch the self-guided Brownfields Discovery Tour. The tour showcases eight brownfield projects in various stages of remediation or redevelopment including:
- Edward Gould Park, 186 Pearl Street
- Greenwich Mohawk Site, 347 Greenwich Street and 22 and 66 Mohawk Street
- Sydenham-Pearl Site, 17 and 22 Sydenham Street
- King and Benton, 85 Morrell Street
- King and Benton, 168 Colborne Street West
- H. Rotberg, 11 and 115 Sherwood Street
- Lanewood Development Corporation, 232-254 Grand River Avenue
- Biestone Inc., 180 Dalhousie Street
Users can access the Brownfields Discovery Tour online at Brantford.ca/BrownfieldsTour where they can follow along digitally or print a hard copy of the tour.
The tour provides a glimpse into the history of the sites and highlights the successful outcomes of each project. Historical photos, newspaper articles and other project details enhance the understanding of the challenges, achievements, and benefits of tackling brownfield projects.
The City of Brantford has become widely recognized as a leader for remediation, redevelopment, and public education of brownfields. The Brownfields Discovery Tour is an exciting continuation of the work of the Brownfields Community Advisory Committee to raise awareness to both residents and visitors of the extensive work already accomplished.
