Parks and Recreation Update During Potential School Closure
Brantford, ON – In case of school closures related to potential strike activity, the City of Brantford Parks and Recreation Department will be providing limited Day Camp opportunities and an update regarding the impacts for sports field use and facility programs.
All City operated after-school and evening programs taking place in Grand Erie Schools including Major Ballachey and Central School Hub spaces will be impacted. Where possible, some programs will be relocated however several cancellations will be unavoidable.
The City will be offering two Day Camps in order to provide service to families in need of care for their school-aged children. These programs are available on a first-come-first-serve basis, with limited availability. One will be held at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre for ages 6 to 12 years and another at Woodman Park Community Centre for ages 4 to 12 years during the week of October 7 to 11. The department will continue to honour bookings at the Bison’s Field at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre and the Kiwanis Field located at Pauline Johnson School, however, the change rooms at Pauline Johnson will be closed and not available for field users.
Regular programming and rentals at Branlyn Community Centre will continue as scheduled. The safety of the facility is of the utmost importance, therefore should any issues arise programming may be cancelled.
Day camps
Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre - Aquatic Day Camps
Note: there is no camp available on Tuesday, October 8. It was previously a PD Day camp which is already at capacity.
Description: This camp will include a variety of activities including gymnasium activities, ice-skating and swimming. Children must bring a lunch and snack, bathing suit and towel and running shoes.
Age: 6 to 12 years
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (there will not be extended care available)
Cost: $35.00 per day (limited space is available)

Woodman Park Community Centre Day Camps
Description: This camp will include a variety of activities such as games, sports, crafts and more! Kids will be asked to bring their own lunch, snacks and running shoes.
Age: 4 to 12 years
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (there will not be extended care available)
Cost:
- $30.00 per day Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
- $42 per day Wednesday and Friday (trip days)
