Official Statement from the City of Brantford

Brantford City Hall

On Thursday April 2, 2020, The City of Brantford was made aware that a Brantford Lift employee has tested positive for Coronavirus COVID-19.

Since learning of the diagnosis, the City has been working closely with the Brant County Health Unit (BCHU) to ensure that anyone, including the passengers that were in direct contact with this individual is immediately made aware of the situation, remains in close contact with the BCHU, and strictly follows protocols and recommendations set out by public health officials.

Furthermore, the City has provided BCHU with a comprehensive list of individuals who were in close direct contact with the employee between March 17th and March 24th, 2020.

As soon as Brantford Lift management staff were made aware that the individual started experiencing symptoms on March 25th, 2020, the vehicle in use at the time was immediately pulled out of service, parked for 24 hours, and fogged with disinfectant repeatedly.

The City of Brantford takes the health and safety of our employees very seriously and as such are committed to continue working to ensure that our frontline staff who are delivering essential services are as protected as possible. To that end, we vigilantly continue to remind staff of the importance of hand washing, not touching your face, frequently disinfecting multi-use surfaces and practicing physical distancing of being 6ft apart from others at all times.

To further protect our staff and the public we serve, the City will also continue to implement any new recommended protocols, processes or measures as per the direction of federal, provincial and local health officials.
