New Child Care Centre to open in St. George

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford and County of Brant are excited to announce the grand opening of Little Learners, a new child care centre located in St. George operated by the St. George Children’s Center, on June 10, 2024. Little Learners will provide 26 licensed child care spaces for toddlers and preschoolers in the community.

This new centre is part of the 985 new child care spaces allocated to the City of Brantford and County of Brant to open between 2022 and 2026 as part of the Building Our Community from the Kids Up,  Brantford-Brant 10 Year Child Care and Early Learning Plan , and the federal/provincial Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) initiative that aims to provide affordable and accessible child care for families. To date,175 net new community-based spaces for children ages 0-5 years old have been added throughout the City of Brantford and County of Brant. These spaces have been achieved through the opening of the new Little Learners centre, expansions of rooms at existing child care centres, and opening new home-based licensed spaces. 481 additional community-based spaces, as well as 329 full day school-based child care spaces at the following schools, are set to open within the next three years:

  • Banbury Heights Public Elementary School
  • Cobblestone Public Elementary School
  • The new West Brant Public Elementary School
  • Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys Catholic Elementary School
  • St. Padre Pio Catholic Secondary School

Local families can apply to Little Learners or other licensed child care through OneList Brantford-Brant. Families can apply to as many centres as they like with one account, as well as browse for locations on a map, learn about each child care centre, and determine if they offer lower fees through CWELCC. The City continues to provide child care fee subsidy for eligible families who are working or in school. Details are available at Brantford.ca/ChildrensServices

The City of Brantford and County of Brant are grateful for the contributions made by the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada in support of these new child care spaces.
