Michael Bradley to return to the City of Brantford as CAO

BRANTFORD, ON: The City of Brantford is pleased to announce the return of Michael Bradley as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Michael brings over two decades of experience in municipal administration to the role, and a personal connection to the Brantford community. 

After previously serving as Commissioner of Community Development in Brantford, Michael went on to hold the role of City Manager for the City of St. Thomas. Born and raised in Brantford, Michael is excited to come back home and work closely with Council, staff, and community partners to continue advancing Council’s priorities and the City’s strategic goals.

Prior to his role as Commissioner of Community Development in Brantford, Michael held the position of CAO for the County of Brant. During his tenure, Michael successfully led his team through incredible growth and transition, and was integral to several of the County of Brant’s accomplishments, including the Green Energy Accord with Six Nations of the Grand River, and the development of Brant Municipal Enterprises Inc.

Mayor Kevin Davis expressed his enthusiasm for Michael’s return, saying, “We are excited to welcome Michael Bradley back to Brantford as CAO. His proven leadership skills, combined with his local roots and understanding of our community, will be tremendous assets in this position. I especially look forward to working with Michael again on development of the boundary lands, given his deep knowledge and past experience on this project.”

“I’m very happy to be coming back to Brantford,” says Bradley. “Having grown up here, this community is close to my heart, and I am eager to work alongside Brantford’s dedicated staff and Council to make a positive difference in the lives of Brantford residents."

Michael will succeed CAO Brian Hutchings, who recently announced his retirement, effective January 3, 2025. Although Brian will be taking some leave over the next few months, he will continue to assist with the transition until Michael is fully settled in his new role.
