Marlene Miranda named new General Manager, Community Services and Social Development Commission

BRANTFORD, ON: The City of Brantford is pleased to announce that Marlene Miranda has accepted the position as the City’s new General Manager, Community Services and Social Development (CS&SD).

Marlene brings over 28 years of extensive experience to the role, including 19 years in progressive leadership positions, most recently as the General Manager, Health and Social Services & Chief Nursing Officer, Norfolk County where she was responsible for Public Health, Social Services (Ontario Works, Children Services), Housing and Homelessness Services, Norview Lodge (Municipal Long Term Care Home) as well as Quality, Planning, Performance and Accountability (QPAP) for both Haldimand and Norfolk Counties. 

Among Marlene’s key accomplishments are developing a Quality, Planning, Performance, Accountability, , implementation of a Commission culture renewal and continuous quality improvement , managing the implementation of several housing developments and representing Norfolk as the municipality’s public health lead in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Marlene earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ryerson University and her Registered Nursing Diploma from Mohawk College, completing her clinical practice at Brantford General Hospital. 

Marlene also holds a Certificate in Leadership and Management from Ryerson University, a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Athabasca University and her Project Management Certification from the University of Waterloo.

Effective March 1, 2021 in her new role, Miranda will oversee the CD&CS Commission including the departments of Family and Income Support, Housing and Homelessness and Community Programs and Social Development.

Marlene says, “I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to expand my professional portfolio and network of partnerships, and to applying my skills and experience to bettering the Brantford community.”
