Kimberly Jolie appointed as City Solicitor

Brantford, ON – The City is pleased to announce that Kimberly Jolie has been appointed as the City’s new City Solicitor, Director of Legal and Real Estate Services.

Kim began her career at the City of Brantford in 2011 as Legal Counsel. Prior to working for the City, Kim was a litigator in the private sector where her practice included insurance defense work for municipalities. Over the course of her career with the City, Kim has provided legal services to all departments and commissions of the City and has represented the City at various courts and tribunals, including successfully defending a City by-law at the Court of Appeal for Ontario. Most recently, Kim has been involved in amending the City’s Indemnification Policy to address concerns arising due to social media and modern means of communicating, and has spent the past year helping client departments navigate the fluid and rapidly evolving COVID-19 regulations to allow departments to find ways to continue their operations within the parameters of the provincial regulations.

Kim has also served as counsel for the Brantford Group of Companies, providing assistance in modernizing and restructuring the utility in relation to the transfer of employees, policy creation and governance review and revisions. Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from McMaster University, a Bachelor of Laws from Western University, and was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2003.
