Joelle Daniels appointed as new City Treasurer

BRANTFORD – The City of Brantford announced that in addition to her current role as Director of Finance, Joelle Daniels has also been appointed as the new City Treasurer.

Joelle began her career with the City of Brantford in a contract position just a week after graduating with a diploma in Business Administration and Accounting in 1994. Since then Joelle has diligently worked her way through the ranks of the City’s Finance Department in various roles, including Accounting Clerk, Special Projects Coordinator, Senior Financial Analyst, Manager of Accounting, Manager of Financial Analysis and most recently in the position of Director of Finance since October 2017. To know Joelle is to appreciate her exceptional work ethic, extensive knowledge of finance best practices and obvious dedication to the City of Brantford.

In her newly expanded role, Joelle will lead and oversee all functions of the City’s Finance Department including budget development, accounting, payroll, purchasing and taxation. She will also be responsible for establishing policies, procedures and guidelines for the City’s annual budget as well as advising and working closely with staff organization wide to manage development and implementation of the City’s operating and capital budgets.

Joelle holds designations as a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA, CGA) and recently completed her Executive Diploma in Municipal Management during which she was asked to have her Research Report submission published in accredited finance industry journals.

City of Brantford CAO Brian Hutchings is pleased to see Joelle take on this significant role, saying “Joelle has made an outstanding contribution to the City in her career thus far and I know I speak on behalf of the entire senior management team in expressing how fortunate we are to have such an accomplished and dedicated professional take on this very important role.”
