Help name the City of Brantford’s future southwest community park

Concept drawing of southwest community park playground and splash pad

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is building a new community centre and park in the southwest part of the city, between Shellard Lane and McGuiness Drive. Residents and sports and recreation user groups are invited to participate in naming the City’s future southwest community park, set to open in 2026.

The following drop-in public open house opportunities will be available to learn more about the project and ask City staff questions. A suggestion box will be onsite for members of the public to submit their naming ideas for the future community park. The community’s top suggestions will be collected according to the City of Brantford’s Naming Policy and presented to Council to determine the chosen name.

  • Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Assumption College School – Cafeteria (257 Shellard Lane)
  • Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre - Pool Meeting Room (254 North Park Street)

This state of the art community centre and park is part of a joint initiative with the Grand Erie District School Board and the Brantford Public Library, with amenities designed for shared use with the new elementary school and library.
