Family Day Weekend Fun

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is pleased to offer a variety of fun activities on the upcoming Family Day holiday on Monday, February 21, 2022. Activities include pre-registered swimming at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, virtual Zoom games, songs and story time with Harmony Squirrel and outdoor ice-skating at Harmony Square, weather permitting.

“We are pleased to continue offering public swimming,” says Judy Wong Page, Manager of Aquatics and Fitness for the City of Brantford. “It’s a great way for families and friends to connect in a warm climate to practice their swim skills and have fun.”

The Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, located at 254 North Park Street, will offer two Public Swim times on Family Day from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required and regular swim admission rates apply. Registration for the week of February 21 begins at 7:00 a.m. on February 16 at brantford.ca/RecConnect. The indoor track is open for walking and running from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and the weight room is open for drop-ins from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Saturday, February 19 at 10:00 a.m. join Harmony Squirrel virtually on Zoom for a half hour of games, songs and story time. Pre-registration is required for this free event geared to kids aged 10 and under by emailing harmonysquirrel@brantford.ca. The deadline to register is Friday, February 18 at 4:00 p.m.

Outdoor ice-skating is also available at Harmony Square, located at 89 Dalhousie Street, daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., weather permitting. Registration is not required. Several local Neighbourhood outdoor ice rinks are also open. Visit brantford.ca/OutdoorIceRinks for more information. The public is reminded to stay off frozen stormwater ponds. Water levels and flows change rapidly at this time of year, making skating and other activities extremely dangerous.
