Filming Notice – July 28, August 3-5, 2021

The City of Brantford Economic Development and Tourism Department is pleased to welcome the cast and crew from The Whispering to film scenes for an upcoming episode at the Provincial Offences Court at 102 Wellington St. The production will be using the Courthouse on July 28 to prep for the August 3 and August 4, 2021 filming dates.

The production will also be shooting some exterior scenes, including driving sequences, in the vicinity of the Courthouse, including American flags flying on the northeast corner of Wellington St. and George St. on Tuesday, August 3. In addition, filming at private residences will close roads with local traffic only. A filming notice will be distributed to affected residents and businesses in the vicinity.

Throughout the pandemic, commercial film and television production, including all supporting activities such as hair, makeup and wardrobe, is allowed if productions meet the restrictions outlined in the “Film and Television Industry Health and Safety during COVID-19” document issued by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development. Further details about permitted Media Industries activities are available on the Province of Ontario website. The production will also comply with all health and safety protocols as directed by the Province of Ontario detailed in S63 of O. Reg. 82/20, the City of Brantford and the Brant County Health Unit.

Anticipated Impacts

  • Interior filming at Provincial Offenses Court (102 Wellington St.) from Tuesday, August 3 at 7:00 a.m. to Wednesday, August 4 at 10:00 p.m
  • Full road closure, on street parking affected
    • George St. (between Darling St. and Nelson St.) on Tuesday, August 3 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
    • Wellington St. (between Market St. and Charlotte St.) on Tuesday, August 3 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Parking at 102 Wellington St. (50% occupancy) from Tuesday, August 3 at 7:00 a.m. to Thursday, August 5 at 11:00 p.m.
  • Crowd of extras, drone filming and American flags flying on the northeast corner of Wellington St. and George St. on Tuesday, August 3, sometime between 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m
  • Driving scenes with tow rig circuits and police escorts:
    • In the general route of: Dalhousie St., King St., Wellington St., and Charlotte St., on Thursday, August 5 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
    • In the general route of: Veterans Memorial Pkwy., Mt. Pleasant St., Colborne St. W., Gilkinson St. on Thursday, August 5 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Full street closure (local traffic only): Prince Cres. behind The Armoury from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on August 5
  • Full street closure (local traffic only): Pusey Blvd. (at Allwood St.), from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on August 16

About the Production
The Whispering is an independent feature film written and directed by Canadian Sheldon Wilson. As part of the thriller genre, the story follows a convict and reporter set in small city USA.
