City sees strong residential construction in April

BRANTFORD, ON – Today, the City released its April 2020 Report on Construction Activity demonstrating a construction value of $8.053 million for 46 issued permits. Increases were seen in the Single Detached Residential (New) and Industrial Sectors.

The Single Detached Residential (New) sector of construction saw the largest increase with a total of 12 building permits issued at a total construction value of $3.739 million, which is a substantial increase to only 2 building permits issued in this sector of construction in April 2019.

A significant increase also occurred in the Industrial Sector of construction. The Sector had a total construction value of $2.995 million in April 2020, which is an increase over a construction value of $0.268 million in April 2019.

Other noteworthy permits issued in April include a permit to do alterations at a warehouse located at 15 Kraemer’s Way with a construction value of $0.980 million. Additionally, 4 demolition permits were issued for the buildings at 5-9 King Street and 60-68 Colborne Street.

The City’s year-to-date construction value of $101.962 million is almost double last year’s total of $52.359 million. For the year, a total of 336 building permits have been issued.
