The City of Brantford Walter Gretzky Municipal Golf Course and Learning Centre was one of 10 municipal golf courses selected by Golf Canada for this program due to its reputation as a leader in Junior Golf promotion and development through Jeff Moore’s track record as a two time winner of the PGA of Ontario Junior Leader of the Year in both 2019 and 2011. This program works towards removing barriers to youth ages 5 to 18, who are looking to learn how to play and participate in a game. The First Tee program uses golf to teach youth ages 7 to 18, life lessons and leadership skills integrating the game of golf with character-building learning experiences to develop self-confidence in a safe learning environment. Skill-building activities include; understanding and managing emotions, resolving conflicts, setting up step-by-step goals, planning for the future, appreciating diversity and golf fundamentals and techniques. This program aligns with The City of Brantford’s Youth Strategy to enhance opportunities for youth in Brantford. RBC Community Junior Golf participating facilities will work with community centres or schools in their local area to register youth participants. Learn more and register at golfcanada.ca/rbcjrgolf.
