City of Brantford winter storm services update
Brantford, ON - In response to the winter storm currently moving through our area, the City’s Operational Services crews are active in full winter control with snow clearing operations continuing as needed throughout the night. Staff will continue to monitor road and weather conditions. Motorists are reminded to clear vehicles of snow and drive with extreme caution.
For the public’s information, the following schedule changes will be in place on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 due to weather.
Service delays, disruptions and/or cancellations
Brantford Transit and Brantford Lift
- Brantford Transit and Brantford Lift is operating though passengers can expect delays.
Community Centres
- Branlyn Community Centre-all programs and rentals cancelled
- Doug Snooks Eagle Place Community Centre-all programs and rentals cancelled
- T.B. Costain/SC Johnson Community Centre-all programs and rentals cancelled
- Woodman Park Community Centre-all programs and rentals cancelled
Other City facilities
- Beckett Recreation Centre-closed
- Bell Homestead National Historic Site-closed
Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre and Arenas
While the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre facility is open, the following programs and activities are impacted as follows:
- Swim Lessons are cancelled after 3 p.m. and a make-up class will take place on March 8, 2023.
- Fitness classes are cancelled
- Length Swim from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. will continue as scheduled
- All registered programs are cancelled including, ROLE Rookies, ROLE Sophomores, Beginners Acro, Adapted Fit and Triathlon programming. A make-up class will take place on March 22, 2023.
The weight room, rentals, Brantford and Area Sports Hall of Recognition and Tourism Information Desk will remain open as scheduled. Additional service disruptions may occur subject to weather and staffing.
Arenas
- Brantford District Civic Centre-open for rentals
- Lions Park Steve Brown Sports Complex-open for rentals
- Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre arenas-open for rentals
EarlyON programming
Some EarlyON programs have been cancelled. Please check the calendar of events for the most up to date information at calendar.brantford.ca/EarlyONCentre.
Emergency Shelter
If an individual is seeking a space to stay warm and access resources, the Housing Resource Center offers resources/services as well as access to shelters where a warm space is available. The Housing Resource Centre at www.hrcbrantford.org can be contacted at 226-227-7692, or email hrc@salvationarmy.ca Monday to Friday between 8:30 and 4:30. For after-hours emergency shelter services, please contact the Salvation Army at 519-753-4193.
