City of Brantford terminates COVID-19 declaration of emergency

BRANTFORD, ON – City of Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis has officially terminated the declaration of emergency initially declared on March 19, 2020, to enhance the City’s capacity and access to resources to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As vaccination rates continue to rise and local hospital admissions stabilize, we feel confident that the emergency declaration can now be lifted,” said Mayor Davis. “I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to the City’s Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and all City staff who worked tirelessly over the past two years to mitigate the risk of community spread in Brantford, while continuing to provide essential services to our citizens. I also want to thank the residents and businesses of Brantford for the sacrifices made to help save lives and keep our community safe.”

As a result of the end of the emergency declaration, the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) has also been deactivated. The City’s Senior Leadership Team will continue to meet as needed to monitor the pandemic and address any measures in place that may be required as the reopening of City facilities and programming continues.

Let’s keep taking care of each other

As we cautiously continue implementing our reopening plan, we must also be mindful that the pandemic is not over and remain vigilant against the virus. Residents and businesses will continue to play a significant role in keeping our community safe. Please continue to follow these important COVID-19 guidelines:

  • Get vaccinated and boosted when eligible to do so
  • Wear a face covering indoors
  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Stay home if you are sick, even with mild symptoms
