City of Brantford’s Woodman Pool reopened with a splash!

BRANTFORD, ON – Over 1,000 residents joined the City of Brantford to celebrate the official grand reopening of Woodman Pool on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis, and Ward 4 Councillors Richard Carpenter and Linda Hunt, cut the ribbon to officially open the pool gates and welcome residents to enjoy their first swim of the season.

Through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP), the Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario and the City of Brantford are providing funding to support the renovations to Woodman Park Community Centre, including the Woodman Pool and playground at Woodman Park.

The City celebrated the grand reopening of the pool with a Summer Pool Party that offered free swims, mermaid meet and greets, creative activities and more for the community from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. 9-year old Emily Kaytor was the first resident to jump into the pool followed by over 1,000 additional attendees who took part in the free swim and activities.

The newly-renovated Woodman Pool features:

Heated 25-metre pool with five lanes for swimming lengths
2-metre deep end and a 1.2-metre shallow end with walk-in entry
Accessible ramp
Water bucket splash feature.

Woodman Pool is now open on Saturdays and Sundays to enjoy a Public Swim from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Family Swim from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., and Length Swim from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Beginning Saturday, June 29, 2024, the pool will be open daily until Monday, September 2, 2024. Additional swims will be offered Monday to Friday including a Public Swim from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Family Swim from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Length Swims from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aquafit pool fitness classes will be offered Wednesdays from July 3 to August 28, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Woodman Pool will also be open for all summer season holidays including Canada Day, Saturday, July 1, 2024, Monday, July 3, 2024, the Civic Holiday, Monday, August 7, 2024, and Labour Day, Monday, September 4, 2024, for a Public Swim from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Family Swim from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. and Length Swim from 10:30 am. to 12:30 a.m.

About the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program

Through the Community, Culture and Recreation Infrastructure stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP), the federal and provincial governments are investing in projects like the Woodman Park Community Centre and Pool that improve cultural infrastructure, support upgrades to recreational facilities, and improve community centres. As an important recreational facility in the community, infrastructure updates to Woodman Community Pool are contributing to more inclusive and accessible recreation opportunities in the City of Brantford.

Woodman Park and Community Garden

The new Woodman Park and Community Garden is set to be open for the fall 2024 season. The park will feature an array of exciting new amenities designed for inclusive fun. Including accessible playground equipment tailored for different age groups, complemented by swings set on safe, rubber surfacing. The park’s updated design incorporates innovative outdoor learning and meeting spaces, games tables, paved pathways, shade structures and new tree plantings. A highlight of the new park will be the revolutionary We-Go-Swing™, which allows both wheelchair users and non-wheelchair users to enjoy the swing at the same time allowing more opportunities for interactive play.

The Woodman Community Garden has been designed with accessibility and convenience in mind. The garden will include accessible garden beds, raised garden beds, a variety of fruit trees and vibrant pollinator gardens. Added amenities will include a shade structure and paved pathways for easy navigation.
