City of Brantford receives perfect score on drinking water system inspection

Grand River

BRANTFORD, ON – At tonight’s Committee of the Whole-Operations and Administration meeting, members of the Committee will receive a report from the City’s Environmental Services staff detailing the results of the 2020 inspection of the City’s water system.

To ensure the City of Brantford’s Drinking Water System complies with all applicable provincial regulations, each year the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) performs an unannounced inspection of the City’s water system. A detailed inspection is performed every 3 years involving a thorough inspection of the system which includes review of records, documents, maintenance activities, staff training, water treatment plant data and water distribution system data. This more thorough inspection was performed on November 18, 2020, by an Inspector from the MECP who completed onsite inspection of the City’s Holmedale Water Treatment Plant, including all distribution system reservoirs and elevated storage tanks.

Following an extensive review of the Drinking Water System, the MECP issued a perfect score of 100% for the 2020 Brantford Drinking Water System Annual Inspection.

This perfect score is a direct reflection of the knowledge and dedication of all of the City’s Water System staff who work incredibly hard to ensure the citizens of Brantford are provided with safe drinking water.

“Clearly this is an excellent result and a great testament to the dedication and commitment of our water department staff,” said Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis. On behalf of a grateful Council and community, I want to extend our sincere thanks and congratulations to everyone in the department for achieving this perfect benchmark.”
