City of Brantford issues call for local musicians for Trail Mix 2025

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is inviting local musicians from Brantford, the County of Brant and Six Nations of the Grand River to submit up to three original songs to be considered for inclusion in the 2025 iteration of Trail Mix. The Trail Mix 2025 playlist will be released on National Trails Day on June 1, 2025.
Trail Mix is a program that merges local music with Brantford’s trail system. Trail users can look for the signs posted on the kilometre markers along a 10 kilometre stretch of the trail between Hardy Road and River Road/Dike Trail intersection, located behind notable tourism destinations in Brantford such as Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant, Waterworks Park, Earl Haig Family Fun Park and Brant’s Crossing. There are a total of ten playlists and ten unique QR codes along the trail. Each playlist has 3 songs and is approximately 10-12 minutes long, which allows the trail user to continue discovering local music during the duration of their hike.
“We are excited to highlight a new group of musicians in this year’s Trail Mix program,” says Adrienne Briggs, Arts and Culture Coordinator, City of Brantford. “Now in its fourth year, this is a wonderful opportunity for local artists to gain exposure and showcase original songs to trail users who can listen and enjoy these playlists for free.”
Brantford’s beautiful trail system and abundance of local talent was a natural fit for Trail Mix. Previous Trail Mix featured artists have included Tyler Wilson, James N. Wilson, Emma Theresa, Calm Canopy, and many more.
Those interested in submitting their original songs for consideration can visit www.discoverbrantford.ca/TrailMix. The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 28, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. Selected musicians will be paid $50 per song. Any questions about the Call for Artists can be directed to culture@brantford.ca.
