City of Brantford holiday season schedule changes 2024-25

Brantford, ON - For the public’s information, the following schedule changes will be in place during the upcoming holiday season from Tuesday, December 24, 2024 to Thursday, January 2, 2025.

Brantford City Hall, Parking Enforcement Office and Customer Service

Brantford City Hall, the Parking Enforcement Office and Customer Service will be closed at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24 and will be reopen with regular hours on Friday, December 27 and Monday, December 30. City Hall, the Parking Enforcement Office and Customer Service will close at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31 and will reopen on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. While closed, all customer service calls will be routed to the City’s after-hours provider that can be reached by calling the City’s Customer Service number at 519-759-4150.

Brantford Transit and Brantford Lift

Tuesday, December 24, 2024 (Christmas Eve)

• Brantford Transit: Regular service until 6:30 p.m.
• Branford Lift: Regular service until 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, December 25, 2024 (Christmas Day)

• Brantford Transit: No service
• Branford Lift: No service

Thursday, December 26, 2024 (Boxing Day)

• Brantford Transit: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Branford Lift: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tuesday, December 31, 2024 (New Year’s Eve)

• Brantford Transit: Regular service until 1 a.m., FREE hourly service 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
• Branford Lift: Regular service until 1 a.m., FREE service 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Wednesday, January 1, 2025 (New Year’s Day)

• Brantford Transit: No service
• Branford Lift: No service

Curbside collection and Landfill

The City of Brantford’s curbside collection will be adjusted the weeks of December 25, 2024 and January 1, 2025 due to the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. Waste collection services including garbage, recycling and green bin will not take place on Christmas Day (Wednesday, December 25, 2024) and New Year’s Day (Wednesday, January 1, 2025). Collection will occur one day later than regular scheduled collection days from Thursday, December 26, 2024 to Saturday, December 28, 2024 and from Thursday, January 2, 2025 to Saturday, January 4, 2025.

The City of Brantford will collect Christmas trees at the curb from Monday, January 6, 2025 to Friday, January 17, 2025. Place your Christmas tree visible at the curb before 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Please remember to remove ornaments, tinsel, tree stands and plastic bags from your tree. Christmas trees longer than 8’ must be cut in half. Christmas trees that are buried in snow or frozen to the ground will not be collected.

Food related plastics (1 through 7), cardboard tubes, cardboard boxes and cartons can be recycled. Only wrapping paper that is 100 per cent plain paper can be recycled. Metallic or cellophane wrapping paper, tissue paper and styrofoam are not recyclable and should be put in the garbage.

The Mohawk Street Landfill Site will be open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding Christmas Day (December 25) and New Year’s Day (January 1), and will remain closed on Sundays.

Brantford Lights at Glenhyrst

Residents can enjoy the annual Brantford Lights at Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant until Wednesday, January 1, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly. Monetary donations are gratefully accepted and help support Glenhyrst’s community endeavors. Non-perishable food donations to the Brantford Food Bank and Salvation Army are greatly appreciated. Limited free parking is available. Altitude Coffee Roasters will be on-site on Fridays and Saturdays to purchase a warm beverage while you stroll.

Brantford New Year’s Eve Celebration on December 31, 2023

Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Brantford on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. The evening begins with a free event at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts at 9:00 p.m. featuring live music by FREELOADER (classic rock) and Hell N BACK (AC/DC tribute), photo booth and party favours. Doors open at 8 p.m. New this year, enjoy a free DJ Skate Party, weather permitting, in Harmony Square from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m., then ring in the New Year with the ball drop at midnight, followed by a spectacular firework display.
