City of Brantford and Laurier launch the fall 2024 International Film Series
BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford, in partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University, is pleased to announce the fall 2024 International Film Series, which aims to provide the community with an opportunity to share, reflect, and celebrate different cultures, languages and cinematic art.
“Art, culture and community engagement is a key priority in Brantford’s Inclusive Community Plan,” says Mayor Kevin Davis. “On behalf of City Council, we are pleased to continue the successful collaboration with our partners at Wilfrid Laurier University and look forward to continuing to provide opportunities to share and celebrate the unique cultures that make up our diverse community.”
"We’re excited to launch the Fall season with outstanding films from around the world,” said Christina Han, Director of the Laurier Hub for Community Solutions. “Last year’s inaugural series was well attended by Brantford residents and members of the Laurier community. The spirit of partnership between the City of Brantford, the Hub for Community Solutions and Laurier Brantford’s International Student Support team helps make events like this available in our community."
Each film included in the series represents a different culture and will include an introduction and discussion prior to the screening. The series will take place at the Steven and Helen Kun Theatre, located at in the Research and Academic Centre,150 Dalhousie St. Tickets are available through Eventbrite with walk-ins welcomed, but seating is limited. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the films begin at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.

- Thursday, September 19th, “A Peck on the Cheek” (India)
- Thursday, October 3rd, “Becoming Astrid” (Sweden)
- Thursday, October 17th, “Pan’s Labyrinth” (Spain)
- Thursday, November 7th, “Parasite” (Korea)
- Thursday, December 5th, at “Guten Tag, Ramón (Mexico)

This project continues to support the goals of the Brantford Immigration Partnership and Inclusive Community Plan 2023 – 2026 by providing opportunities for Brantford residents to engage in cultural experiences and celebrate diverse stories and perspectives.
