City launches the 2024 Seniors' Toolkit

Seniors' Toolkit 2024

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford and the Brant Elder Abuse Awareness Committee are pleased to launch the fifth edition of the Seniors’ Toolkit, a practical handbook that provides older adults with information about local, provincial and federal organizations available to assist seniors in Brantford-Brant. The toolkit also contains vital information on elder abuse, such as reporting protocols, prevention strategies, and local community resources.

“I am pleased to announce the 2024 Seniors’ Toolkit and to raise awareness about the important issues that older adults face,” says City of Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis. “I encourage all seniors to pick up a copy of this valuable resource to stay informed on issues, including elder abuse, health and wellness and financial planning.”

The Brant Elder Abuse Awareness Committee is comprised of local agencies and volunteers in the City of Brantford and the County of Brant. The committee facilitates educational workshops to increase awareness on elder abuse and provide residents and local organizations with tools and resources to support older adults in the community.

“The Seniors’ Toolkit has proven to be an exceptional guide for both seniors and service providers,” says Penny McVicar, Executive Director of Victim Services of Brant. “We are proud supporters of this continued initiative as having accessible information in an easy-to-read format is crucial for ensuring everyone can navigate the resources available to them.”

Collaborating with community partners to address elder abuse and utilizing creative methods to communicate with older adults are both key components of the City's Healthy Aging: Age-Friendly Strategy.
