City invites residents of all ages to Learn Together

Let's Learn Together

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is pleased to announce the Let’s Learn Together spring programs. These free monthly programs are designed to encourage youth and older adults to build new skills and develop personal connections with each other. The activities planned for April, May and June 2023 include gardening, pottery, and traditional Indigenous games.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnerships with the local community to deliver exciting intergenerational programming that will provide an opportunity for children, youth, and older adults to form new social connections and learn new skills,” says City of Brantford Mayor, Kevin Davis. “These events will bring together different generations to enjoy fun, hands-on learning.”

Participation in intergenerational programs and meaningful cross-age relationships may decrease social isolation and increase older adults' sense of belonging, self-esteem, and well-being, while also improving social and emotional skills of children and youth participants.

Let's Learn Gardening Together, offered in partnership with Equal Grounds Community Gardens, will take place on Saturday, April 15 at Doug Snooks Community Centre (333 Erie Ave.) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Accompanied children, youth, and older adults (50+) are invited to learn about plant care and the community gardens that are overseen by Equal Grounds Community Gardens. Participants will plant seedlings to take home and there will be garden-themed colouring activities for younger participants. Registration is required by calling 519-761-9467 or by completing online registration at bit.ly/LetsGardenTogether.
