City invites Older Adults to Participate in annual Let’s Get Moving Campaign
BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford, and its community partners, are pleased to launch the City’s fourth annual “Let’s Get Moving” campaign featuring four FREE workshops to encourage older adults to keep active.
“As an active senior, I am excited to share the new in-person programming being offered this October for older adults,” said Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis. “I encourage all seniors to take advantage of these fun and engaging ways to stay healthy and active in the community."
The first event, Let's Try Chair Yoga will take place on Thursday, October 21 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Woodman Park Community Centre, located at 491 Grey St. Modo Yoga Brantford will present a gentle form of yoga that can be done sitting on a chair or standing on the ground while using the chair for support.
Let's Sit to Be Fit takes place on Friday, October 22 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Woodman Park Community Centre. The program is designed to promote health and fitness for seniors and those wishing to increase strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance.
Let's Try SAFE ZONE takes place on Tuesday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Doug Snooks Eagle Place Community Centre, located at 333 Erie Ave. SAFE ZONE is a falls prevention exercise program designed by health professional to assist seniors in the community to remain independent.
The last event, Let's Try Chair Yoga, will take place again on Friday, October 29 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Woodman Park Community Centre. Modo Yoga Brantford will present a gentle form of yoga that can be done sitting on a chair or standing on the ground while using the chair for support.

Please note that proof of identification, vaccination or exemption is required to attend the workshops.
Prioritizing seniors' health and wellness, and reducing social isolation is a key component of the City's Healthy Aging Plan. These workshops provide an opportunity for older adults to remain active and connected to our community, which can help to improve overall wellbeing.
