City granted Jumpstart Sport Relief Fund
BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford has been awarded the Canadian Tire Corporation’s Jumpstart Charities Sports Relief Fund that helps partnering community organizations continue to provide access to sport and recreation for children and youth.
“With Jumpstart’s support, we will be able to work collaboratively with the Why Not Youth Centre, Woodview in the Square, Nova Vita, and the Youth Resource Centre to facilitate joined physical activity, education, and social support programming for youth,” says Laura Almeida, Community Development Coordinator for the City of Brantford. “Along with Jumpstart, we understand the role that access to recreation plays in the health and well-being of youth, their families, and our community as a whole.”
The awarded grant of $7,200 will directly support the upcoming Your Time program, which will be offered by the City in partnership with the Why Not Youth Centre, Woodview Mental Health and Autism Services, Nova Vita, and the Youth Resource Centre. The Your Time program will coordinate joined physical activity programming and violence prevention education for local youth. More information about the launch of the Your Time program will be made available by the end of 2021 on the City of Brantford’s website at brantford.ca/youth.
In 2021, the Canadian Tire Corporation committed an additional $12 million through the Jumpstart #SportReliefFund to help communities rebuild through sport and play. Over 1,200 sport and recreation organizations across Canada have been supported through grants from Jumpstart’s Sport Relief fund this year alone.
