City confirms 2020 was farewell golf season at Arrowdale

Arrowdale Golf Course

BRANTFORD, ON: On March 16, 2021 Brantford City Council officially approved and adopted the City’s 2021 operating budget. This year’s operating budget did not include any allocation for golf operations at Arrowdale Municipal Golf Course.

In December 2019 it was announced that Arrowdale would be operated in 2020 with a view to ensuring a memorable final season for patrons of the golf course. Arrowdale’s farewell season was a success and provided golfers with a final opportunity to enjoy the course.

Going forward, Arrowdale will not be maintained or operated as a golf course. Rather, the portion of the Arrowdale lands that were retained for a community park will be accessible as open space for all residents to enjoy until the City is ready to start construction on the community park.

Although Arrowdale will no longer be operated as a golf course going forward, residents will still have access to the Walter Gretzky Municipal Golf Course and Learning Centre, named in honour of our beloved Lord Mayor who will be missed greatly by so many in our community.

The Walter Gretzky Golf Course features a full 18 hole golf course, a full practice range with putting greens and a newly renovated club house for all to enjoy. Residents are encouraged to visit brantford.ca/golf for information regarding timing of the course opening, leagues, lessons, membership opportunities, green fees, facility rentals and advertising and sponsorship opportunities.

Additional tributes and remembrances in honour of Walter Gretzky will be announced in the near future.
