City celebrates Public Works Week

Celebrating Brantford Public Works Week Video

BRANTFORD, ON – On Monday, May 17, Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis raised a flag at City Hall to recognize the week of May 16 to 22, 2021 as Brantford Public Works Week. This week celebrates the dedicated professionals in our Public Works Commission who contribute each day to the public health and high quality of life and well-being of our residents. The theme for National Public Works Week this year is “Stronger Together.”

“I am incredibly proud of the dedicated, hard-working team of Public Works professionals at the City of Brantford,” says Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis. “Join me this week as we celebrate the commitment they make every day to make Brantford a great place to live, work, learn and play.”

The City of Brantford Public Works Commission is responsible for maintaining, rebuilding, and improving, Brantford’s transportation and transit network, water supply, water treatment and solid waste systems, city buildings and public spaces, essential to our citizens. Public Works staff contribute in so many ways to maintaining the safety and health of residents, from ensuring traffic signals are operating properly, streets and roads are clear for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists, and ensuring there are ample opportunities for residents to go outside for fresh air and exercise. From the time residents turn on their taps to brush their teeth, drive to the grocery store on Brantford roads, or walk through our beautiful parks, the hard work of Public Works staff is reflected. The City invites residents to learn more about our Public Works Commission through the Celebrating Brantford Public Works Week video available on the City of Brantford’s YouTube channel.

“Each year during National Public Works Week, we celebrate the dedication and hard work of the staff that provide essential services to our residents," says Inderjit Hans, General Manager, Public Works, City of Brantford. “This year’s theme embodies the idea that though we are in challenging times, we are stronger when we work together, and I am so proud of the commitment to the City that staff show each day.”

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing photos of our hard-working Public Works staff on our City of Brantford Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. Follow along using the hashtags #BrantfordPublicWorks or #StrongerTogether to see the team in action and share and comment to show your support and thanks. Join the City in recognizing the important work the dedicated employees of the Public Works Commission do every day. If you see a Public Works team member hard at work in your neighbourhood, be sure to give them a wave.
