breaking ground for a new lawn bowling green at Walter Gretzky Municipal Golf Course

BRANTFORD, ON – City of Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis, Brantford Councillors Gino Caputo, Mandy Samwell, and Michael Sullivan, City staff and members of the Dufferin Tennis and Lawn Bowling Club, gathered today at the Walter Gretzky Municipal Golf Course and Learning Centre, to officially kick-off construction for a new lawn bowling green. This new amenity is set to open in the spring of 2025.

“We are thrilled to break ground on the new lawn bowling green at the Walter Gretzky Municipal Golf Course and Learning Centre,” says Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis. “This new feature will provide a welcoming and picturesque recreational space for lawn bowling enthusiasts in our community. We’re looking forward to its completion in spring 2025 and the many opportunities it will bring for residents and visitors to enjoy this timeless sport.”

The new lawn bowling green will be constructed to complement the recently built clubhouse at the Walter Gretzky Municipal Golf Course and Learning Centre. Designed to meet tournament standards, the fully enclosed lawn bowling green will feature lighting, a 6 metre x 6 metre sheltered area with seating, storage shed and attractive plantings.

The new lawn bowling green will be strategically located north of the existing parking lot and west of the clubhouse, providing convenient access for players and spectators alike.
