Brantford to join Great Global Clean-Up on Earth Day 2020

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford encourages residents to be part of the largest environmental volunteer event in history by joining a community-wide litter clean-up event to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22nd. As part of a worldwide Global Clean-Up campaign, the City, in partnership with the County of Brant, the Brant County Health Unit, the Grand Erie District School Board, Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board, and community volunteers are organizing a series of community clean-ups across the community throughout the week of April 19-25th, 2020.

The City will provide participating residents with clean-up kits including gloves, garbage bags, recycling bags, flags for hazardous material and instructions for registered groups and individuals.

The event is part of the City’s Clean Brantford campaign that was introduced to Councillors at their Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

“The Clean Brantford campaign aims to tackle littering with a three-prong approach”, said Rochelle Rumney, City of Brantford Climate Change Officer. “We are starting with this city-wide litter clean up event on Earth Day, and will continue awareness and education efforts all year long. We need to take care of our city and the wider environment and keeping it clean is a great place to start.”
