Brantford ‘s strong construction trend continues for November

BRANTFORD, ON – The City released its November 2020 Report on Construction Activity demonstrating a construction value of $14.920 million for 68 permits issued. The year-to-date construction value for 2020 is a record-breaking $240.178 million for 1,012 permits issued, which is 26 per cent above last year’s year-to-date construction value for this same time period.

“The strong construction trend in Brantford has continued in the month of November and has further added to the record-setting yearly construction values,” says Andy McMahon, Chief Building Official and Director of Building Services. “We expect the trend to continue through December and into the new year.”

Increases for November were seen in the Institutional and Government, Residential (Accessory, Alterations, Additions), Single Detached Residential (New) and Multiple Residential (New) sectors of construction.

The largest increase occurred in the Residential (Accessory, Alterations, Additions) sector of construction where 45 building permits were issued for projects with a total construction value of $4.249 million. An increase also occurred in the Multiple Residential (New) sector which saw a total construction value of $3.295 million for November.
