Brantford conducting aerial LiDAR survey to enhance stormwater planning

BRANTFORD, ON – The City is conducting an aerial LiDAR survey to improve the model used for planning, upgrades and repairs to the stormwater network. LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is a remote sensing method that uses pulsed laser light to create highly accurate 3D models of the ground.
To complete the survey, a plane equipped with LiDAR technology will fly in a row pattern over the entire city at an elevation of approximately 900 metres. The work is expected to take place between March 24 and April 24, depending on weather conditions, and will require approximately two to three days of flight time.
