Traffic Advisory: Anticipated delays due to MTO roadwork near new Costco location
BRANTFORD, ON – Drivers who frequent the Wayne Gretzky Parkway (WGP) should be aware of potential traffic impacts in the area surrounding the new Costco Wholesale Warehouse location at 175 Roy Boulevard, set to open on November 8, 2024. Ongoing construction work being conducted by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) at the interchange near the WGP and its ramp terminals with Highway 403 may contribute to increased congestion in the vicinity of the new retailer.
The MTO roadwork is expected to continue beyond the store’s opening date. This construction involves improvements to key infrastructure intended to accommodate increased traffic in the area and enhance future access to businesses. However, while work is ongoing, drivers may experience some delays and are advised to plan accordingly.
If your travel route to the new Costco Wholesale Warehouse/ Lynden Park Mall will be via Highway 403, it is strongly suggested to utilize the Garden Avenue interchange whether travelling eastbound or westbound to minimize delays and ramp closures during construction. Garden Avenue and West Street are also parallel routes to Wayne Gretzky Parkway that provide access to the Costco Wholesale Warehouse via Woodyatt Drive (from Lynden Road) or Edmondson Street (from West Street). Brantford Transit also offers several routes serving the Lynden Park Mall and Costco property.
The City of Brantford understands that the new Costco will attract many local patrons, and the frustration that roadwork and increased traffic may cause. MTO and the City appreciate your patience as these necessary provincial infrastructure improvements take place. We are actively coordinating with MTO to monitor traffic flow and will provide updates on any developments.
For further information on the ongoing construction, please contact the Ministry of Transportation at 416-235-4686 or toll-free at 1-800-268-4686, or email mtoinfo@ontario.ca.
