Mayor Kevin Davis to rejoin Brantford Police Services Board

Brantford City Hall

BRANTFORD, ON – Effective today, Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis will be returning to the Brantford Police Services Board. The Mayor's return to the Board highlights his ongoing dedication to public safety and commitment to the well-being of the community.

The Brantford Police Services Board plays a crucial role in overseeing the provision of police services, law enforcement, and crime prevention in the city. As the legal entity responsible for the proper conduct of the organization, the Board is accountable for ensuring that Brantford Police Services (BPS) adheres to the standards and regulations established by the Government of Ontario under the Community Safety and Policing Act.

The Brantford Police Services Board comprises five members: two Council Members appointed by resolution of Brantford City Council, one Community Member appointed by City Council, and two persons appointed by the Lieutenant Governor. The Board is responsible for setting the priorities and objectives for the Brantford Police Service in consultation with the Chief of Police.

Mayor Davis expressed his enthusiasm for rejoining the Board, stating, "Doing everything we can to help keep our community safe is a top priority of Brantford City Council, and I am committed to working closely with the Board and our dedicated police service to ensure that together we uphold the highest standards of policing and public safety in our city."

As the Mayor rejoins the BPS Board, we also want to take this opportunity to thank Councillor Greg Martin for his leadership as Board Chair since January 2023, as well as for his many years of service as Vice-Chair and long-standing member of the Board.

A new Board Chair will be elected at the next BPS Board meeting on September 12, 2024.
