City encourages business owners to apply early for temporary patio permits
BRANTFORD, ON – Last week, the Ontario government announced that based on current public health modelling trends, outdoor dining will be permitted in the province of Ontario starting the week of June 14, 2021, with a limit of four people per table. This opening date will be confirmed closer to the date based on the ongoing progress of provincewide vaccination rates and key public and health care indicators. Anticipating this likely opening date, local businesses should take note that the City of Brantford continues to accept applications for temporary patio allowances for private and public outdoor patios to accommodate outdoor dining in Step 1 of the province’s Roadmap to Reopen.
In anticipation of higher application volumes given this latest provincial announcement, and in order to enable restaurants to open their patios as soon as allowable, the City is encouraging applications to be submitted early so that they can be approved in a timely manner. All applicants will be required to adhere to guidelines as set by the Brant County Health Unit, Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
Businesses that applied in 2020 will have to reapply again for 2021.
