BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford’s Community Skate Exchange returns to help provide residents with gently-used ice skates to enjoy more recreational fun this winter. The Skate Drive, in partnership with the Brantford Bulldogs, will offer a new location for attendees of Brantford Bulldog home games to donate gently used ice-skates.

“The City is thrilled to partner with the Brantford Bulldogs to help provide more recreational opportunities to those in need of skates,” says Jennifer Middleton, Special Events Supervisor for the City of Brantford. “This program has contributed to thousands of ice-skates changing hands within the community to help residents stay active during the winter months.”

The free Community Skate Exchange program takes place at the Harmony Square main office (89 Dalhousie Street) on Wednesday, December 4 and December 11 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, December 5 and Friday, December 6 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and each Wednesday from January 8 to February 12, 2025 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Community members in need of ice skates, or looking to exchange their old ones for a new size, are encouraged to attend. Appointments outside of regular program hours can be booked by emailing harmonysquare@brantford.ca.

A new drop-off location for gently used skates will be available during Brantford Bulldogs home games at the Brantford and District Civic Centre (79 Market Street South) throughout the 2024-25 winter season. Attendees can donate their skates to the collection bin located in the Bulldogs Rinkside Lounge to support those in need. Skate exchanges and pick-up of gently used skates will not be available during the Brantford Bulldog Skate Drives.
