Brantford’s Blue Box program to transition under Circular Materials in 2025
BRANTFORD, ON – As of January 1, 2025, the City of Brantford’s Blue Box program will transition to be operated by Circular Materials, a national not-for-profit organization that is committed to building an efficient and effective recycling system across Ontario.
In 2016, the Government of Ontario introduced the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, initiating a transition to a new province-wide recycling system. This transition shifts responsibility for the Blue Box program from municipalities to product producers.
What to expect during the transition
Between January 1 and December 31, 2025, there will be no changes to assigned collection days or the list of acceptable blue box materials. The two-sort system (paper products in one bin and containers in the other) will remain in place. Customers can continue to bring the same blue box materials to the Mohawk Street Landfill located at 20 Morrison Road.
After January 1, 2025, residents can contact Emterra at 1-888-597-1541 or customercareont@emterra.ca for recycling collection inquiries such as missed collections, recycling questions, or replacement of recycling bins. New or replacement recycling bins can no longer be picked up at the Mohawk Street Landfill as of January 1, 2025.
