Winter Storm – City Services Update

Brantford Snow Plow

In response to the winter storm currently moving through our area, the City’s Operational Services crews are active in full winter control salting and plowing operations on all red, blue, and green routes and sidewalks, in priority, that will continue throughout the day and evening.

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.  A winter storm with a combination of 10 to 20 cm snow, ice pellets and freezing rain is expected today into tonight.

We strongly encourage residents to minimize or eliminate their walking and driving activities as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to snow and freezing rain. This will allow City staff and contracted services time to respond to the conditions. We also ask residents to please park their vehicles off the street whenever possible during the event to allow our combination trucks to service roadways more effectively.

Brantford City Hall is open today as is the City’s Customer Contact Centre: 519-759-4150.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots are likely to become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your travel plans with changing road conditions. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break and utility outages may occur.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
