Select City recreational services to resume following yesterday’s provincial announcement
BRANTFORD, ON – In response to yesterday’s provincial announcement to gradually reopen outdoor recreational amenities prior to the end of the stay-at-home order, and in continued close consultation with the Brant County Health Unit, today, the City announces some recreational service updates effective Saturday, May 22, 2021.
Outdoor recreational facilities to reopen with capacity limits and physical distancing measures still strictly in place:
- All sports fields for informal use only (no games, practice or rentals with gathering restrictions in place)
- Bisons Alumni North Park Sports Complex for the running track use only from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Disc golf
- Dufferin Park Lawn Bowling
- Dufferin Park Tennis (5 courts available)
- Dufferin Park Pickleball (1 court available)
- Kiwanis Field for running track use only from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Outdoor fitness equipment and picnic tables
- Rotary Bike Park from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Skate Parks
- Steve Brown Sports Complex Tennis Court (1 court available)
- Steve Brown Sports Complex Pickelball (1 court available)
- Walter Gretzky Municipal Golf Course
Outdoor recreational facilities that remain open with capacity limits and physical distancing strictly in place:
- Dogford Park Dog Park
- Parks, trails and playgrounds
Recreational facilities that remain closed:
- Beckett Adult Leisure Centre
- Bell Homestead NHS
- Brantford and District Civic Centre
- Doug Snooks Eagle Place Community Centre (inside)
- Earl Haig Family Fun Park
- Splash Pads
- T.B. Costain/SC Johnson Community Centre
- Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre
- Woodman Community Centre and pool
Outdoor organized sports or recreational classes are not permitted at this time. Outdoor limits for social gatherings and organized public events are expanded to five people, which will allow amenities to be used for up to five people, including with members of different households. All other public health and workplace safety measures under the provincewide emergency brake will remain in effect.

The City of Brantford stresses that all residents and businesses play a very significant role in successfully reopening our community safely. Please continue to follow these important COVID-19 guidelines to keep yourself and others in our community safe:
- Wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, cover coughs or sneezes, clean and disinfect surfaces and stay home if you are sick.
- Wear a face covering (non-medical mask), such as a cloth mask in all public enclosed indoor spaces to reduce the risk of transmission and practice physical distancing (6 ft apart from others) in public at all times.
- Book your COVID-19 vaccination through the Brant County Health Unit when eligible.
