The Mohawk Street Landfill Site is located at 20 Morrison Road, Brantford, ON N3T 5L9

Hours of operation

Open - Monday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Closed - Sundays, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

NOTE: All loads must be weighed and unloaded prior to 5:00pm. All waste materials must be generated from within the City of Brantford.

Cash, Cheque, Debit, Visa and MasterCard. 

2024 Tipping Fees

During the September 27, 2023 City Council meeting, the 2024 Fees and Charges By-law was approved. Effective January 1, 2024 the following Tipping Fee Schedule will apply at the Mohawk Street Landfill:

“Mixed Load Charge” tickets will be issued for loads that contain a discernable amount (over 10%) of recyclable materials. The overall goal of this initiative will be to divert recyclable materials brought to the Mohawk Street Landfill Site for disposal. If the load is found to contain over 10% of recyclable materials, the entire load will be charged at the “Banned Material Rate” of $200.00 per metric tonne.  The hauler will be advised of the increased tipping charge and given the option to separate the recyclable materials or pay the tipping fee.

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in diverting recyclable materials from disposal and to extend the operating life span of the Mohawk Street Landfill Site.

Cover materials now accepted

As of February 1, 2023 loads of commercial/industrial cover materials will be accepted on a case by case basis, free of charge (TCLP analysis may be required). Please contact the City for more information at 519-759-4150.

Contaminated Soil

Contaminated soil and soils generated from site remediation or cleanup activities may be accepted at the applicable tipping fee rates. All contaminated soil loads must be approved prior to disposal. Solid Waste Operations staff must review lab results of appropriate testing parameters before disposal can be approved. Please contact the City at 519-759-4150 to review these requirements.

Electronic Equipment Recycling

The City’s electronic recycling program is available to Brantford residents during regular operating hours, Monday to Saturday,  8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Mohawk Street Landfill Site. Bring your old, used electronic equipment to the Public Drop-off Area of the landfill free of charge.

These items can be disposed of at the public drop off area. Disposal fees apply.

  • Microwave ovens
  • Air conditioners and dehumidifiers (must be tagged by a licensed refrigerant handler indicating that the unit no longer contains any refrigerant materials)
  • Kitchen Appliances – coffee makers, toasters, blenders, etc.
  • Household appliances – vacuums, carpet cleaners, etc.
  • Electric motors
  • Power tools

Tire Recycling

Tires on and off rim can be taken to the Mohawk Street Landfill Site during regular operating hours, Monday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., free of charge.  There is a limit of 10 tires per visit.

Diversion of construction and demolition materials

You can divert the following materials for recycling:

  • asphalt shingles
  • roofing nails (mixed with shingles)
  • dressed lumber
  • shingle packaging materials
  • drywall
