Brantford Water Welcome Program

The City of Brantford is offering a free program for New Canadians in Brantford interested in participating in swimming/recreational programming at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre.

This program will provide New Canadians in Brantford the opportunity to:

Learn basic water safety;
Complete a swim assessment for participants who may be new to swimming to assist with registering for the appropriate swim skill level; and
Guide participants on how to register for swimming lessons through ActiveNet.

New Canadians are invited to participate in the program on January 9 or 16, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, located at 254 North Park Street.

5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.: Tour of the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre
6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.: Step-by-step instruction on how to register for a program online
7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.: Swim Lesson assessment to determine what level to register yourself or your child(ren)
7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.: Learn basic water safety skills in and around the water

To participate in the swim lesson assessment and water skills activities, please bring a bathing suit and towel and be prepared to be in the water. Participants are welcome to bring a translator if translation support is needed. Registration is required.
