North East Flood Remediation Study
In August 2017 and in April 2018, the City of Brantford experienced severe storm events. This resulted in flooding in some areas of Brantford, predominantly in the North East Area.
In response to these storm events, the City commenced the North-East End Flood Remediation Study to investigate the causes of flooding, identify any deficiencies in the infrastructure, and recommend solutions to reduce the risk of future flooding in the area.
Final study report
The North-East End Flood Remediation Study is now complete and the following documents have been prepared:
- Final Study Report
- Appendix A - Flood Questionnaires
- Appendix B - Smoke Testing Report
- Appendix C - Archaeological Report
- Appendix D - Public Consultation
- Appendix E - Public Awareness Brochure
Public consultation
As part of the study, the City hosted a Public Information Centre (PIC) to provide an opportunity for residents, property owners, tenants, and agencies in the North-East End area to meet with City staff and the consultant from the Remediation Study Project Team. The PIC was held on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Branlyn Community Centre.
The purpose of this PIC was to introduce the project to the community, learn about flooding, present existing stormwater infrastructure and environmental conditions, identify existing issues and opportunities and potential solutions for the identified issues.
