Financial Assistance for Recreation

It's important to us that all children and youth in our community have the chance to access recreation and leisure services. Financial assistance for most of our drop-in and registered programs may be available to you if you qualify and if the funds and programs are available.  You can find out if you meet the requirements by looking at the charts below.

What you need to know

  • Limited assistance is available for youth and children 17 years and under
  • Assistance is limited to two programs per person per season
  • Assistance is based on your family income before deductions and whether other assistance has already been provided to your family for the current registration time
  • Only two weeks of summer camp assistance if available 
  • Some restrictions apply
  • You will not be charged to apply

Things to bring when you apply

You must be able to provide the following documents to apply.

If you are currently on Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP):
  • Current pay stub and Drug card or Healthy Smiles card or;
  • Current pay stub and Child Tax Benefit (child(ren's) names must be listed) 
If you are not on Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) but still qualify for financial assistance: 
  •  Income Tax Form or Notice of assessment and a current pay stub or;
  • Current pay stub and Child Tax Benefit or;
  • Employment Insurance Stub and Child Tax Benefit

 How payment works

  • Ontario Works and Ontario Disability customers receive 100% funding with proper documentation. Some restrictions may apply.
  • If you don't qualify for 100% assistance, you have to pay your portion of the program fee when you register. (view the chart below for details)
  • You can make payment by Visa, Mastercard, Debit, cash or cheque (payable to the ‘City of Brantford').

Arnold Anderson Sport Fund

The Arnold Anderson Sport Fund (AASF) youth get access to sporting activities. Financial assistance up to $350.00 is available to Brantford children up to 18 years of age to cover registration cost. AASF covers both municipality programs such as swim lessons as well as community associated programs such as hockey.
