In September 2008, construction began to upgrade the Holmedale Water Treatment Plant. The construction is scheduled to be completed by mid 2011.
The upgrades include the construction of:

  • New 3-story Administrative building.
  • New treatment facility including 2 clearwells, 2 backwash water wells, 8 filters, vertical turbine pumps, UV disinfection, chemical systems and associated piping, valves and appurtenances.
  • Modifications to existing Pre-Treatment facility to convert chlorine contact tanks to ozone contact tanks, to modify the existing lean-to structure to house additional chemical equipment, to demolish piping, valves and appurtenances and to construct new piping and an enclosure/room in the basement.
  • New high lift pumping station complete with wet wells and horizontal centrifugal pumps and associated piping, valves and appurtenances and electrical equipment.
  • Transformer station, Stand-by power supply, yard piping, demolition, site works
  • Pre-selected equipment (Ozone system, Liquid oxygen system, UV reactors)
