BRANTFORD, ON – As part of our commitment to the continued delivery of excellent services to citizens, the City of Brantford has the following plan in place in the event of a Canada Post labour disruption. At this time, Canada Post has not provided information that a labour disruption could occur within the next 72 hours. The City will continue to assess the situation as it unfolds and provide further updates accordingly.

Accounts Payable

It is recommended that vendors register for electronic funds transfer (EFT) if they have not already done so. The EFT direct deposit form can be accessed on the City’s website at Accounts Payable Form or you can email Accounts Payable at to obtain a hard copy of the form. Invoices can be dropped off at City Hall.

Accounts Receivable

Payments to the City’s Accounts Receivable department can be made by drop box at the entrance of City Hall any time or in person at the customer service counter at City Hall, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Social Services

Direct bank deposits are not affected for residents who are receiving Ontario Works financial assistance. All October payments issued by cheque have been mailed on September 25, 2018 as scheduled. Ontario Works cheque recipients should receive their cheques in the mail on or by October 1, 2018.

Ontario Works recipients are advised to call 519-759-3330 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday if you:

  • Are a client and handed in your Statement of Income on time, or are a landlord or vendor expecting a cheque and have not received your cheque by October 1, 2018
  • Submitted your Statement of Income or other documents late that are needed to process your October assistance as your cheque may be delayed
  • Are expecting any other payments or correspondence and would like to know if it is being mailed or will be held for pick up

In the event that you do not receive an October drug or dental card and DBD stub/Statement of Assistance, you can present your valid September dental card at dental providers to receive service and present your Ontario Health Card at pharmacies to obtain prescription medication.

To avoid delay, please do not put any documents in the mail if a Canada Post labour disruption is announced. All required paperwork should be dropped off in person at 220 Colborne Street during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the exception of statutory holidays. Alternatively, there is a drop box outside the main doors for documents, or documents can be faxed to 519-759-1750. Regular updates will be posted to the department’s twitter account @OWBrant or you can contact the office at 519-759-3330.

Tax Payments & Brantford Utilities (Water/Wastewater) Bills

Tax and Brantford Utilities (Water/Wastewater) payments can be made at your local financial institution either in person, by telephone or online banking. Payments can also be made in person at Brantford City Hall, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. When the office is closed, there is a drop box at the entrance of City Hall for cheques only, not cash.

2018 Municipal Election Voter Information Cards

Voter Information Cards for the upcoming Municipal Election were mailed out to the public during the week of September 17th and it is expected that all cards should be received by September 29th. If you do not receive your Voter Card by September 29th and wish to vote online October 1st, please visit City Hall during regular business hours (Monday-Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm) to pick up a Voter Information Card in person.
