2009 Brantford Brant Community Profile

Data Sources

Social Planning is a process that helps communities develop plans to improve the well-being and quality of life. The process usually involves monitoring the community environment for trends and emerging issues that concern people.

Knowing the demographic make up of a community provides social service organizations with the knowledge and ability to forecast trends within specific groups with common characterisitics such as age, income, family structure, education, ethnicity, etc. to target social programs.

Statistics Canada has designated Brantford and Brant County a Census Metropolitan Area (CMA). This designation allows for the collection and publishing of census information at the census tract or neighbourhood level. The 2006 Census of Canada from Statistics Canada is the main data source used in the development of the 2009 Brantford Brant Community Profile.
