We’re encouraging you to add cycling to your daily routine in celebration of Bike Month this June!
Check some of the great activities being offered to help get you excited about cycling.
| Bike to School Week - June 4 to June 7, 2024 |

Bike to school each day of Bike to School Week and receive a new prize every day! Prizes include sunglasses, bike bells, drawstring bags, juice boxes, and more! City of Brantford staff will be on-site 30 minutes prior to bell time to hand out free giveaways to any student who rides their bike to school. Don’t have a bike? That’s okay! Hop on your scooter, skateboard, or rollerblades! What to bring:

| Bike Month Creative Challenge (June 3 to June 28) |

Do you have a student in grade 1 to grade7? We're on the lookout for creative pieces that celebrate Active Transportation in our community. Whether it's a painting, drawing, collage, or even a digital masterpiece, let your students' imaginations pedal freely! From bike lanes to walking paths, anything that promotes active ways to get around is fair game. The winning design will earn your class a Pizza Party, and their masterpiece will cruise through the streets of Brantford on a City of Brantford Street Sweeper! But wait, there's more! Each participating student will be entered to win a fantastic bike package, including a brand new bike, helmet, and lock. Submission Guidelines: Photos of original art must be emailed along with your name, the name of your school, your grade, and contact information for your teacher to ActiveTransportation@brantford.ca by June 28, 2024. Contest Rules and Regulations: No purchase necessary. Must be an elementary student of the Grand Erie District School Board or Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board in Grades 1 through Grade 7. Open to legal residents of Ontario. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received. To enter, email photos of original artwork to ActiveTransportation@brantford.ca. One entry per student. Contest begins June 1, 2024, and ends June 28, 2024. Winners announced September 30, 2024, in Brantford, Ontario. Three prizes available: one special classroom pizza party and two bike packages. |
| Community Bike Rides (June 4 to June 29) |

Cyclists of all ages are invited to join Heronhead Bikes as they host several community rides in celebration of Bike Month this June! Enjoy a tour of your ward or explore a ward you haven't yet had a chance to ride through. Tuesday, June 4 at 7:00 p.m. (Slow Roll)

| Movies in the Square (Thursdays from July 11 to August 29) |

Join us every Thursday from July 11 to August 29 for Movies in the Square at Harmony Square. Enjoy a movie under the stars. Showtimes are from dusk to 11:00 p.m. Anyone who rides their bicycle to the movie will receive a voucher for a FREE popcorn. Don’t have a bike? That’s okay! Hop on your scooter, skateboard, or rollerblades! |
With an increase in cycling activity this June, please remember that bicycles are quiet vehicles making it very important to warn other cyclists, pedestrians and motorists of your riding intentions. Please remember to use your bell, horn, or hand signals to indicate that you are passing, or approaching. Additional cycling tips are available at brantford.ca/CyclingTips.
